Transforming our mental health services

Young personWorking with local people and their families and carers along with partner organisations across our system, we are developing our Thrive mental health transformation programme.

This programme aims to place a greater emphasis on the role of the community with a focus on earlier intervention and prevention  to improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes for local people and communities.

Our Thrive programme aims to make sure:

  • People who have experienced problems with their mental health are given greater control over their own care and are helped to manage their own conditions more effectively, for example, if they are given better information and have their own personalised agreed care plan
  • We break down the barriers in how support and information are provided.  This means that organisations will work more closely together so people only have to tell their story once
  • We focus on the benefits that working at scale, across a larger geographical area can bring and concentrate on where this will make the most impact and not duplicate the work being delivered in local communities
  • We adapt to take advantage of the opportunities that science and technology offer people with lived experience, carers and their families and friends
